The Companies We Keep
Unlike some other Companies we believe in long-term relationships. We’ve worked with many of our clients for over 10 years, going back to their first forays with upgrading their technology needs. Over the years they’ve entrusted us with some of their most valuable business assets, and we take that responsibility very seriously. Take a look at some of the companies who’ve bet their businesses on us. We think you’re in good company.
Client List:
Bigstone Cree Nation
The Bigstone Cree Nation Education Committee selected Strategic Information Systems to be their technology consultants for both schools in their community. SIS worked with the committee developing a plan to integrate PC computers with curriculum-based software with the end goal of allowing students to have individually tailored courses and the opportunity to learn at their own pace. In addition to providing long-term support, SIS is also assisting the school with the development of a syllabic translator that will convert English lettering into Cree syllabic characters.
Enoch Cree Nation
SIS worked with the all of the key administrators and staff at the Enoch Nation to develop a Technology Plan that would allow student to have access to technology in every classroom. A network consisting of over 100 workstations connected to high speed Internet allowing every student, teacher, and the administrator to have high-speed Internet at their desk. Kindergarten to Grade 12 curriculum software has been installed, giving the teachers many software tools at their disposal.
Health Canada
Health Canada approached SIS as a result of a strong recommendation of one of our clients. The department had a plan to implement wireless local area networks connected to a high-speed satellite dish in 41 Health Canada locations in Alberta. SIS was contracted to install and support the wireless local area networks. The department had an extremely tight implementation timeframe requiring that all installations be completed in 1 month. SIS completed these installations on time achieving Health Canada requirements. SIS continues to assist Health Canada providing on-site support in the Alberta and Atlantic Regions.
Indian & Northern Affairs Canada (INAC)
INAC provides high-speed satellite based Internet connection to over 100 First Nations schools in British Columbia. SIS has provided this service since 2003 with complete technical support throughout the province.
Little Red River Cree Nation
Little Red River Cree Nation comprises of three different communities each in separate geographic regions. Two of the regions are only accessible by plane during certain seasons. Each of the communities has its own administration departments such as Health, Child-Welfare, and Housing. One problem that was identified by the Little Red community was communication difficulties between these regions. To help remedy some of these issues the First Nation decided that email and Internet access for all administration staff was paramount. The Little Red River people selected SIS for the task of implementing its Virtual Private Network, which allows all three communities email and Internet access. To complete the task, SIS initially upgraded all of the workstations so they would share a common standard. SIS then implemented Internet gateways, and mail accounts which allow all the administration staff to send and receive email from anywhere in the world. Currently we have two full-time technicians administering 9 local area networks for the Little Red River Cree Nation.
Louis Bull Tribe
SIS worked with the Education Director of the Louis Bull Tribe for nearly 2 years, developing a Educational Technology Plan that tightly integrated a computer based curriculum for their new school. Subsequently SIS was awarded the contract to be the Technology Supplier for the new Kiseputinow School. The new school has over 100 computers connected to a fiber-optic backbone.
Sturgeon Lake First Nation
The schools of the Sturgeon Lake First Nation were using very old computer technology requiring constant maintenance. SIS developed a strategy to replace the outdated computers with new computers and install a network that would allow all of the users Internet access. The implementation was very successful and SIS progresses with on-going expansion into other departments within the Sturgeon Lake community.
